WAR LOAN CONVERSIONS

APPLICATIONS TO BANK OF ENGLAND FURTHER NUMBER RECEIVED Received July 28, 7.45 p.m. LONDON, July 28. Another flood of applications for the conversion of war loan bonds was received by the Bank of England yester day totalling £74,000. The total applica tions outstanding is now under £731,000. Continental holders continue to convert freely. The scheme has provided a windfall for stockbrokers and solicitors who, besides the banks, are entitled to commission as agents converting for clients. It is expected that commission paid by the Government will total £3,000,000.
