MONUMENT WRECKED
LIGHTNING SHATTERS OBELISK A granite obelisk 50ft. high, in the grounds of Tapeley estate, Devonshire, which is occupied by Lady Bosamond Christie, was struck by lightning on June .12 and demolished. Great blocks of granite were hurled a hundred feet by the concussion, and iron railings were twisted into fantastic shapes.
