RING DOWN THE CURTAIN

GISBORNE RACING CLUE. REVIEW OF TO-DAY’B CARD. (By “Kestrd.” The Gisborne Bating Club will ring down the curtain on Saturday after occupying the racing stage for a lengthy period, for after Saturday its identity will be lost through amalgamation with the Poverty Bay Turf Club. Next season racing will be conducted by the Poverty Bay Club, under which name the two clubs, merged together, will operate. The race meeting which commences to-day and will be concluded on Saturday will therefore be the final scene for the Gisborne Racing Club’s operations. The fields for to-day are really good and there should be plenty .of interest displayed in the racing. More than the usual number of visiting horses will be in evidence, some being on hand from Auckland. Hawke’s Bay and Awapuni centres, though the majority are local candidates. „ , The first race, the Park Hurdles, is ,o start at 11.30 am. Manuiri, Neil and Simeon make most appeal. For the Hack Flat Handicap Prince’s Star and Lady Vane appear to have the best credentials. The sprinters in the Flying Handicap are a decent lot, with Tai Ao likely to have a call over Sunny Song and Manifesto. , .. Freehold appears to stand out m the Hack and Hunters’ Steeplechase, bat Luna Lux and Jen will supply tough opposition. For the Maiden Race Swift and Sure and Hunter’s Moon should have most friends. The principal event is the Winter Oats, in which Teller and Sunny Sohg may be preferred to Autumn Sun. The Tramway Hack Handicap has drawn an excellent field, in which Ladj Spy, Beverage and Resouli may make most appeal. Following is the list of acceptors:— PARK HURDLE HANDICAP (Of <l5: 1% mil«> ,
