SUCCESSFUL BALL

WEST COAST REGIMENT With its softly-glowing lights and handsome woodwork, panelling, the largo room at thc Elrick looked very attractive last evening on the occasion of tho ball held by the officers of the Wellington West Coast Regiment. There was an attendan’cc of about 300 and tho many lovely frocks worn by the ladies and the dress uniforms of the officers presented a colourful sight in tho artistic room which requires no decoration to enhance its beautiful appointments and furnishings. Tho regimental and King’s colours, handsome cups and a canopy of coloured streamers, decorated the lounge room and the entrance ball was arranged as a sitting-out room. No effort had been spared to make the function a memorable one, and the committee responsible for carrying out these happy arrangements ’comprised: Alajor W k S. McCrorio. Captain H. E. Edmondson, Lieut. E. T. Pleasants. Sec-ond-lieutenant E. E. Wales, and Lieut. O. H. Burford (hon. secretary). Lively dantje music was played by the River City Syncopaters, including special novelty numbers, which were encored. The officers and committee were assiduous in seeing that the evening was thoroughly enjoyable. Lieutenant-colonel Cade. M.C., V.D., and Mrs Cado received the guests. Mrs Cade was gowned in a model frock of wine lace.
