I THE WANGANUI SALE. / QUALITY AT LATE RATES I Messrs. Freeman R. Jackson anil Co.. Etd.. report as follows ou yesterday’s Wanganui sale: The entry in the sheep section, with the exception of one line of breeding ewes, comprised fats. Tin? top Jot. two pens on account uf Mr. George Currie (very prime heavy ewes) made 10s. The top pens throughout the sale made fair prices, firm on last, week’s values, but any lots lacking finish were dull of sale. The breeding ewes had uncertain mouths and were passed in. A good entry of cattle (about 170 head) with the exception of three lots were sold under the hammer at prices which were in tho buyers’ favour. Mr. John Butcher’s (Fordell) fat cows sold at from £3 to £3 7s to £3 10s. These were good prime runbred cattle. A light entry of pigs and dairy cattle sold at late rates, as also did a fair entry of vealers. Quotations:— Sheep.—Prime ewes, heavy weights. 10s; prime ewes, 9s; fat maiden ewes, Ils 6d; ewes (aged and low-condi-tioned) to Southdown rams, 6s 9d. Cattle. —Prime Hereford heifers. £3 7s; prime P.A. Hereford cows, £3 7s o £3 10s; prime S.H. cows, £2 Jos to £3; fat P.A. cows, £2 2s 6d to £2 10s; empty P.A. cows and heifers (fresh conditioned) 255, 30s to 355; good empty P.A. cows. 20s, ditto, Hereford, 265; 34-year P.A.' and S.H. bullocks. £2 5s to £2 10s 6d; aged run cows (poor) 3s 6d, ss, 9s to 12s; sound dairy cows, early cal vers. £3 10s, £4 5s to £4 10s; heifers in milk, to £2; backward dairy heifers, £2 to £2 10s. Pigs.—Good porkers to £1 7s 6d; light porkers to 17s 6d; stores, Bs, Ils to 14s; heavy P.A. vealers, 16s, 16s 6d, l. 20s to 21s 6d; fair P.A. vealers, 10s, 12s, 14s to 15s; light vealers, 6s, 7s to 9s. THE MARTON SALE The N.Z. Farmers’ Co-op. Distributing Co., Ltd., report on above sale as follows: We yarded 550 sheep and 100 bead dairy cattle. There was a good attendance but competition was, as at recent sales, rather lifeless. Prices: Good fat ewes 7s 6d, lighter fat ewes 4s to 5s 6d, medium fat b.f. lambs 8s 4d, fwd. b.f. lambs 6s 2d, cull lambs 3s Id, medium 4th to 5-year ewes r.w. S.D. rams 7s 3d, empty ewes 2s 4d to 3s 6d, low-mouth ewes r.w. S.D. rams 2s 6*l, low-conditioned ewes r.w. S.D. ram.s 4s Id. A. line of 15 dairy cows (Jersey cross) July, August, September calvers, made from £3 to £6 15s. Springing heifers £2 10s to £4. Jersey weaner heifers to 30s; small Jersey weaner heifers Ils 6d. THE TAIHAPE SALE There was little demand for sheep at the Taihape stock sale conducted by Associated Live Stock Auctioneers yesterday and many lines were passed. Quotations are as follow:—34 ewe lambs passed at 8s 3d; 12 ewe lambs passed at ss; 115 fat ewes passed at 7s 3d; 95 5-year ewes passed at 9s; 70 m. ewes passed at 7s; 68 empty ewes passed at ss; 150 4 and 6-tooth and 4 and 5-year ewes sold at 10s lid; 412 wethers (on account of E. C. Batt) wero passed in; 28 b.f. lambs passed at 9s; 185 4 and 5-year ewes passed at 7s 3d; 26 empty ewes passed at 3s. RECEDING PRICES VALUES AT ADDINGTON I Per Pr*oe Association.} CHRISTCHURCH, Juue 15. Entries in the fat stock sections were normal to-day at the Addington market. The principal features were a drop in the export schedule for fat. lambs and a further easing tendency ia beef. Store Sheep: A very small entry and a dull sale. No change in’ValuesValues were: Good ewe lambs to 10a. medium, ewe, 7s to 8s 6d; ordinary store, 4s 3d to ss; good 6 and 8-tooth halfbred ewes, Ils to 15s 4d; s.m. halfbred, 5s to 7s 6d, aged, to 2s 7<l; medium 4 and 6-tooth half bred weth era, 10s to 11s 4d; small 2-tooth halfbred to 7s 7d. Fat Lambs: An entry of 2300 very mixed quality. The export schedule was down by id a lb. for ail grades, making firsts 4jd a lb. Competition from butchers was for light sorts only. Values were: Extra prime lambs to 17s 7d, prime, 14s to 16s; medium, 11s to 13s 6d; light, 8s t* 10s 6d; store, 7s to 8s 6d.

Fat JSheep: An entry of 4700 with a large number from South Canterbury, Otago and Southland. Late rates were maintained except for light ewes, which were firmer. Values wera: Extra prime heavy wethers to 22s 4d, prime heavy, 15s 6d to 17s 6d; medium weight prime. 13s to 1.55; ordin ary, 10s 6d to 12s 6d; light. 8s to 1.0 s; extra prime heavy ewes to 14s lOd, prime heavy, 10s 6d to 13s 6d; medium weight prime, Ss to 10s; ordin ary, 6s to 7s 6d; light, 4s to 5s 6d. Fat Cattle: An entry of 430 head, including 50 head from the North Island, also lines from the West Coast and Southland. A disappointing sale. Best beef made up to 22s per JOOlbs-. good from 17s 6d to 19s 6d, ordinary from 13s to 17s, inferior down to Bs. Values were: Extra prime heavy steers to £lO 7s ; prime heavy, £7 to £9 10s; medium weight, prime, £5 5s to £7 ss; ordinary, £3 15s to £5; light to £3 10s, extra prime heifers to £8 7s 6d, prime, £5 5s to £7 ss; medium, £3 5s to £5; light to £3; extra prime cows to £8 17s 6'l, prime, £4 15s to £6 15s; medium, £2 15s to £1 10s; light, £1 to £2 10s. A small entry of baconers in the fat, pig section met with a good de mand. THE WESTFIELD SALE BEEF AT LATE RATES [ Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Jun<! 15. An average yarding of very good quality cattle was offered at the weekly Westfield sale to-day, but there was no improvement in demand and prices remained at the level of last week’s quotations. Exporters were able to purchase nearly 200 head. Extra choice ox sold to 19s per lOOlbs, choice and prime ox 16s to 18s, secondary and plain ox 12s to 15s prime young cow and heifer beef 10s to 16s, ordinary cow be»f 8s to 13s, extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £7 18s a head to £8 10s. heavy prime steers £7 to £7 15s, lighter prime steers £6 to £6 17s 6d, light prime steers £4 10s to £5 17s 6d, small and unfinished steers £2 10s to £4 7s 6d; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers £4 10s to £5, heavy prime cows and heifers £3 10s to £4 7s 6d, lighter prime cows and heifers £2 5s to £3 7s 6d, other killable cows £1 to £2 2s 6d. Sheep were yarded in large numbers. Although there was a steady demand, values were lower by Is to 2s a head, the fall in prices being more marked in wether mutfton Prime wethers made 10s to 15s. unfinished 7s to 9s 9d, ewes 4s to 9s 6d. Lambs were penned in average numbers and sold at late rates. Prime 9s Gd to 14s, small and unfinished 5s to 9s 3d. There was a largo yarding of pigs. Values for baconers were at last week’s quotations, but porkers were slightly easier. Choppers brought 30s to 50s, baconers 34s to 535, porkers 19s to 325, slips 10s to 15s, weaners 5s to 9s. A heavy offering of calves sold at considerably easier values. Runners 25s to 655, vealers 15s to 345, rough calves 5s to 10s.
