STOLEN HANDBAG
FOUND IN CREEK BY DOG [Per I’resa Association.] AUCKLAND, June 15. A youth who was taking two dogs for a run in the Auckland Domain was surprised when one, a six-months-old terrier, darted into a shallow creek and rotiirncd with a woman’s hand bag. This was found to contain £3, also two bank books with credits of hundreds of pounds. The police have ascertained that the bag was one stolen from an apartment house in tho city on Saturday night. There was then £5 in it, but the thief apparently missed tho £3, which was in a separate compartment. The dog was accustomed to receiving sweets from a purse, and to this is attributed its finding of the stolen article.
