BURGLARS DISAPPOINTED
ATTEMPT TO OPEN SAFE I Per Press Association.J AUCKLAND, June 14. Burglars entered the premises of the Auckland Meat Company’s branch shop at, Epsom last night and blew the safe with gelignite. Entrance was gained by forcing a door at the roar of the snop. The explosion was so severe that it awakened a number of residents. It is believed that three men were involved. The safe, which was a small one, was damaged by the explosive, which was placed in the keyhole, but tho door, after opening about an inch, jammed and could not be either closed or opened There was about £l5 in tho safe. The burglars used a number of white coats belonging to three em ployees, and a thick oilskin coat to pack round the safe to deaden tho sou ml of the explosion. All the co its were badly damaged, some having large holes torn in the material. The thieves secured nothing.
