FOR KIRK-WINDEYER CUP N-S.W. TO PLAY N.Z. TEAM QUEENSLAND DEFEATED Received Juno 14, 9.50 p.m. SYDNEY, June 14. Conditions were ideal for the first of tho Kirk-Windeyer Cup matches, at the Rose Bay links, to-day. New South Wales proved too strong for Queensland, tho latter being beaten by six rubbers to nil. New South Wales thus qualified for the final against New Zealand on Wednesday and Thursday. Results were as follow: Foursomes R. H. Bettington and R. J. Withycombe (New South Wales), beat T. Trude and T. Munro (Queensland), 3 up. J. Ferrier and G. Thompson (New South Wales), beat R. H. Cumming and G. Whatniore (Queensland), 4 up. Singles Ferrier beat Cumming, I up. Bettington beat Munro, 7 up. Withycombe beat Trude, 4 up. Thompson beat Whatmore, 9 up.

Tho games were all played out. The ■•utstanding incident was Ferrier’s recovery against Cumming. The former’s form was disappointing in the early stages, his veteran opponent being 3up at the turn. Ferrier was much steadier in the second nine holos and after a great struggle managed to win on the last green. Subject to the likelihood of altera tion in tho Now Zealand team, tho draw for the foursomes over 36 holes to-morrow is: Ferrier and Thompson (New South Wales), against Hornabrook and Silk (New Zealand).
