he will be succeeded by Air. J. R. II Caiman, manager in Fremantle. After some years on the staff of the Bank of New Zealand at Hunter villc, Mr. G. F. Shanley has receiver notice of transfer to Te Awamutu. Mr Shanley was well known in the Wan ganui district as a representative foot bailer. He was also a good cricketei and tennis player, and has been secre tary and treasurer in tennis and foot ball clubs. The well-known New Zealand eth nologist, Dr. Peter Buck, will leave Honolulu on July 8 to take up a posi tion as lecturer at Yale University He will make his home in New Haven Connecticut. Dr. Buck, who has been connected with the ethnological sectior of the Bishop Museum, Honolulu, for several years, formerly occupied the position of director of Maori hygiene in New Zealand. Upon his departure for Honolulu he was replaced by Dr. E. P. Ellison. Dr. Buck is one of the most prominent authorities on the Maori race, and, during his association with the Bishop Aluseurn, he conducted valuable researches into Polynesian history and customs in several Pacific island groups.
