To-morrow’s game will be a battle royal. Hautapu v. Old Boys, No. 2 ground, at 2.45 p.m.; referee, Mr. W. Burton. Transom. Ohl Boys v. Utiku, No. 2 ground, at 1.30 p.m.; referee, Mr. J. Graham. Huimai v. Pirates, No. 2 ground, at 12.15 p.m. sharp.j referee, Mr. C. L. Mullany. MAJESTIC THEATRE. The final screening of that delightful British comedy entitled “Plunder,” featuring Tom Walls and Ralph Lynn, who achieved .such fame in “Rookery Nook’’ takes place at the Majestic tonight (Friday) at 8 o’clock. “Plunder” differs slightly from “Rookcry Nook” in type. True, it has the same humour, the same situation, but it frequently grows more tense, as in the Scotland Yard sequence, and an undercurrent of drama prevails throughout, the never lets the interest flag or the comedy become overdone. However, it is farce right through, and the diologue fairly sparkles with the inimitable Ben Travers’ wit.

With the same east, the same direction and a better story than “Rookery Nook,” “Plunder” is on the way to making entertainment records. “Transatlantic,” feating Edmund Lowe and Lois Moran, will be shown to-morrow (Saturday) at 1.45 p.m. matinee and at 8 p.m. FARMERS’ UNION The annual meeting of the Taihape branch of the Farmers’ Union was held on Wednesday afternoon, Mr D. Scott presiding over a fair attendance. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs A. W. Bivknell, A. R. Fannin, J. E. Collins, R. S. Treadwell, R. J. Gibbs. The balance-sheet which disclosed a credit of £6 10s, was read and adopted. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follow: Chairman. Mr D. Scott; vice-chairman, Mr A R. Fannin: executive committee, Messrs G. E. Anderson. L. A. Hebberd. F. Micklcson, W. J. Williams, F. R. Collins, J. A. Morrison, A. W. Bicknell, W. R. Anderson, D. G. Gordon, J. Webb. J. E. Collins; secretary, Mr F. M. Marlow; treasurer. Mr G. E. Anderson; delegates to provincial 'conference, Messrs D. Scott, A. R. Fannin, G E Anderson.

The meeting expressed disapproval of the order system of collecting members’ systems through stock firms and banks and the delegates attending the provincial council meeting at Feilding were instructed to inform the council that the Taihape branch preferred to collect its own subscriptions as it was difficult to determine what members were financial under the order system.

Mr F. Mickleson reported that he had inspected samples of wool wEc) had been treated in such a way that it closely resembled rubber. This byproduct was useful for overcoats, etc. Thu secretary referred to the excellent work that was being performed by the local branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union and specially mentioned their efforts in connection with the wool campaign.

He remarked that the Farmers’ Union was on the same plane as the Chamber of Commence with the exception that the chamber could make direct representations to a Minister of the Crown whereas branches of the Farmers’ Union could not deal with Ministers direct, and were obliged to forward any suggestions or remits to thp provincial executive.

Personallv he was of th? opinion that branches of the Farmers’ Union should have direct representation. The following letter was receive.’ r rom the Minister of Agriculture: “1 desire your co-operation in bringing under the notice of all members, that this department has made arrangements with the Unemployment Board that, all farmers making application for labour for the purpose of destroying noxious weeds, are to be granted relief workers, free of wages cost. Details of men. days and hours of work are to be arranged between the farmer and the lo»eal Unemployment Committee.

I urge, earnestly, that in the interests not only of the individual farmer, but of the community in general, al 1 farmers should avail themselves of this arrangement, as by so doing they ar? not only adding to the productive value of their individual holdings but also increasing the morale of the relief worker bv finding him something useful to do.”
