MODERN SELLING METHODS
An interesting account uf the meth ods of the manufacturers of electric washing machines was published recently in the Editor and Publisher, and stated “Resourcefulness "n the part «»f manufacturers of household washers <n finding a now outlet, together with n new idea in advertising appeal, enabled 27 members of the American Washing Machine Manufacturers’ Association to report that their combined sales last year exceeded those of 1930. This organisation represents 85 per cent, of tho country’s total production. “Mr J. R. Bohnen, secretary <>t' the association, stated that while many of j the association members used national ' magazine advertising, they all looked I with, favour upon iicwspaper.s and vn i eouraged their distributors and dealers to use this medium, either by matching pound for pound and appropriation spent by the dealer for newspaper advertising. or by giving them wholesale credit on washers purchased, when local advertising is employed.”
