FOUR HOURS’ DISCUSSION ALLEGED INDECENT ASSAULT. Mr. Justice Blair is presiding. The Grand Jury empanelled was as follows:— Robert Janies Jackson (fore--1 rederiek John Nanearrow, ‘FArcy Garnett O’Toole. Frederick Fhares Atkinson, Cecil Randolph Frankish, Arthur Henry Benefield. Herbert Fry, James Patterson, Arthur, h‘P p er, George Frederick Lomas. Harold Hooper Smith, William Leslie Burgess, Henry William Cooper, Wil liam Bruce, Charles Irwin Spillane. George Frederick Newsome, Fletcher Bramwell Barber, Nelson Claphain Bar stow. David Orrcn Halos. David Ernest Dustin. Malcolm Reid Stewart. Percy Benefield, and Walter Tiffin Stewart. Addressing the Grand Jury. His Honour said that their duties would be very light. There was only one bill to come before them and the case con eerned was a charge against a youngish man for carnal knowledge of a girl under tho age of consent. He thought that they would have no difficulty with the case because the girl would not be of the age of .T’> until September of this year and tho offence was alleged to have taken place during October of last year. The Grand Jury was only concerned with prima facie aspect of the case and, with the evidence they would have placed before them, he thought that they would have no difficulty in finding it to be a prima facie ' The Grand Jury returned a true bill The jury was empanelled as follows: Samuel Brooking (foreman'), ]|enr\ George Drew. Allan Jamieson, John Deacon, William Todinan, Arthur Per rival, George Frank Bradshaw, John Stanley AJorgan, Henry Roberts Robin son, Robert. Hall Colt man, Albert Kenny and Wilfred Shardlow. Prosecuting counsel, in addressing His Honour and tho jury, said tho child had turned 15 years of ago last Sep te.mber. She had met accused on a Friday night in October in Victoria Avenue. With another girl accused had taken tho child to an unfrequented part of Castlecliff in a taxi. Having given the child a drink of liquor, they had left the car for about 15 minutes. Accused had made a statement to the police that he had not. boon in Wan ganui after August, 1931. But there was evidence that on October 3 aci-uscd | hml travelled to Wellington from Wan ganui.
