TEXTILE INDUSTRY
FOREIGN COMPETITION LONDON, May 3. Aeroplanes are rushing Polish and Italian cloths to England, foreign exporters being quick to rake advantage of the lowered textile duties. Yorkshire millowners will be ruined unless the duties are revised, declare wool and textile manufacturers, who are exerting every pressure on members of the House of Commons to combat the tariff committee’s report. On the other hand, it is said that the millowners cannot agree among themselves, and that they failed when re quested in February to supply essential tacts and figure,a. Yorkshire Chambers of Commerce are to hold a joint meeting to decide on a common plan of action.
