SERVICE LARGELY ATTENDED. | Per Press Association.J CHRISTCHURCH, April 15. Anzac Day was celebrated in a manner which has now become traditional. There was the largest parade of exservicemen for many years in a proi cession which marched from Cranmere Square to King Edward Barracks, where a united memorial service was held. An address was given by Mr, • J. A. Lee. M.P. About 7000 people : attended the service. A wreath was laid at the Bridge of
Remembrance and a large number carried in the parade were hung on thefront of the Cathedral. ROYAL MESSAGE THE GOVERNOR'S REPLY. | Per Press Association. I WELLINGTON, April 25. I Tbe Governor-General has been comi manded by the King to communicate to I the people of New Zealand on the oc- . easion of Anzac Day the following message from His Majesty: i “On this solemn anniversary the thoughts of the Queen and myself are with my people of New Zealand in the proud remembrance of those who laid down their lives at Gallipoli. —George R. 1.” His Excellency has sent the following reply to His Majesty:— “Your Majesty’s gracious message has been ccmmur.icatcd to the people of this Dominion, who appreciate most deeply knowledge that the thoughts of Your Majesty and the Queen are w'th them on this day of hallowed memories.—Bledisloe. ”
