SWIMMING
ARAMOHO SCHOOL SPORTS The annual swimming sports of the Arainoho School were held in the school baths on Thursday afternoon. The weather was cloudy, but warm. There was a large number of entries, and the programme went with a swing, all events being closely contested with many close finishes. A touch of humour was added by the tab and chariot races, which were highly appreciated by the large gathering of parents and friends present. During the afternoon tea was served to tho parents by the committeemen’s wives, namely Mesdames Halligan Pepper, Cathro, Nalder, Howard, Wnetton, Sleight and Cables. The children, too, were served with soft drinks and biscuits. The thanks of the staff and committee are due to Messrs. Bridges and Earle, who year by year donate tho senior and junior champions hip medals, to Mr. J. Walker for donation to prize fund, and to Messrs. J. Camp boll and Nicholson for judging. GONVILLE CLUB CARNIVAL PROSPECTS FOR SUCCESS TINGEY CUP, THOMAS SHIELD Given fine weather, the Gonville Swimming Club should have another successful carnival at the Gonville baths to-night, when a full programme will be commenced at 7.30 p.m. In addition to the usual list of events, the Thomas Shield and Tingey Cup will provide interesting relay contests, while district championship events of more than ordinary interest are the 440 yards championship, 50 yards ladies’ breaststroke and the men’s and ladies’ diving championships.
