WEDDING

BELL—BAKER Considerable interest was taken in the wedding at Wanganui on Thursday evening, 4th .inst., of Raymond W. Bell, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Bell, of Nelson ,and Aroha Annis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Baker, Wanganui. The Church of Christ, where the ceremony was performed by Mr. George Mathieson, was tastefuly decorated in shades of scarlet and white by the girl friends of the bride. Mrs. Bebarfald presided at the organ, and the beautiful and appropriate solo “Because” was ably rendered by Mr. T. Cave. The bride, who was escorted to the altar by her father, wore an ivory georgette frock with an ankle-length fully flared skirt. The corsage being close fitting with long sleeves flared from the elbows and loose fitting coatee. Her beautiful veil of silk embroidered tulle was held in place with small clusters of orange blossoms, and formed a long train. A sheaf of white gladiola and tiger lilies was carried. The bridesmaids, Miss N. Baker (chief), sister of thc bride, and Miss E. Bell, of Nelson, sister of the bridegroom, were dressed alike in. cream crepe de chine frocks with tight fitting bodices and full flowing skirts, ankle length. Their large scarlet crinoline hats trimmed with velvet were worn off the forehead. Both wore a rope of red amber beads, which were gifts of the bridegroom, and carried shiefs of red gladiola. Scarlet satin shoes completed their toilettes. The little flower-girl, Nora Ballantyne, of Wellington, and niece of the bride, looked dainty in her long cream crepe de chine frock, an exact replica of the elder maids. A band of scarlet tulle finished with a large bow was worn round her head and she carried a basket of red carnations. A gold armlet, gift of thc bridegroom, was also worn. Mr. Ron Bell, of Nelson, brother of the bridegroom, carried out the duties of best man, and Mr. Drayton Cave, of Palmerston North, as groomsman. After the ceremony over 100 guests were received in the Youth Hall by Mr. and Mrs. Baker, the latter wearing a frock of black marocain relieved with satin and black hat to match, and was carrying a bouquet of tiger lilies. The high esteem in which the happy couple were held was indicated by the warm-hearted speeches and toasts when wishes for their future were most cordially expressed. Mr. and Mrs. Bell later left by car for the south, the bride travelling in a floral silk georgette frock and navy blue corded satin coat with blue hat to tone.
