The second Wanganui wool sale takes place to-morrow. Buyers have arrived and are inspecting the offering. April 18-* has been fixed as the date on which annual meetings will be held to elect school committees for the ensuing year. “Safety First’’ Lectures. Permission to give lectures in schools on “safety first” principles in regard to the use of busy jtreets and roads was granted the Wanganui Automobile Association by the Ed cation Board yesterday. The association’s patrolman (Mr. L. Dowling) is to do the lecturing and the scheme was praised by members of the board. “If we can save one life,” said the acting chairman (Mr. E. F. Hemingway), “we will be doing the right thing in granting permission.” Overcrowded Schools. A complaint came before the Wanganui Education Board yesterday from the school committee at Parewanui regarding overcrowding in the building. The secretary (Mr. W. H. Swanger) reported that the attendant? had gone up last year and an assistant had been appointed. It had risen still further this year. The chief inspector stated that Parewanui was not so badly off as Greatford. In normal times it might be all right to make alterations, but under present circumstances it could not be done. It was decided to advise the committee accordingly.
