THEFT OF GOODS
YOUNG WOMAN CHARGED. TWO YEARS’ PROBATION. [ Far Press Association. ] WELLINGTON, Jan. 15. Dorns Isobel Board, aged 18, was placed on two years’ probation by Mr. McNeil, S.M., on a charge of stealing goods valued at £2 10s, and attempting to obtain £4O from the Mutual Loan and (Deposit Company by false pretences. It was stated that she made arrangements with a land agent for renting a house, giving her name as Mrs. Landseer. She paid six guineas as two weeks’ rent in advance. Two weeks’ later she insured the furniture in her assumed name, and the following day attempted to raise the £4O on it, but this led to the police being called in, and it was found she had taken some of the property from the house.
