ARRIVAL AT SINGAPORE Received Nov. 25. 10.20 p.m. .SINGAPORE, Nov. 25 The Southern Sun lias arrived. The ’plane departed for Alorstar. NEW ZEALAND’S RESPONSE [ Per Press AssJciation. ] WELLINGTON, Nov. 24. Letters for delivery in New Zealand, numbering at least 3000, were carried on the Invercargill-Auckland air mail which was held recently. In addition the mail from Auckland to Wellington on the following day had aboard 671 articles, some of which were for despatch by the Australia-England flight. Post Office figures show that a total of 6872 articles were carried by the two New Zealand services. The mail for the Australia-England service which left New Zealand totalled 3173 letters and this, subtracted from the number carried in New Zealand, leaves the number of letters for inland delivery at 3701, but as a certain proportion of the mail which left New Zealand was not carried on the local service it would seem that 4000 letters would comprise the interior portion of the flights.
Details of the number of letters posted at each “port of call” on the two trips are:—lnvercargill-Auckland flight, November 12: Invercargill 1495. Dunedin 1020, Christchurch 1324, Blenheim 258, Wellington 1258, Pnlmcrstor North 490, New Plymouth 356—-totai 6201.
