POLITICAL OBSTRUCTIONISTS
THE STATUS OF THE INDEPENDENT. It is a remarkable fact that in any lino of human endeavour, there is always some person prepared to criticise, obstruct, and destroy So it is in political affairs. New Zealand is a very sick patient to-day, and it has been necessary to call a consultation of political doctors. The Coalition' Government has made a thorough and careful diagnosis, and has prepared a cure on careful, sano lines. Unfortunately, certain opportunists styling themselves ‘ ‘ Independents ’ ’ have stepped in, and are propounding, all sorts of wild theories. They have varied and curious medicine, which would certainly leave not only a nasty taste, but would cause serious complications. The Independent knows full well that he is a "lone wolf.” He knows that by opposing and obstructing tho Coalition proposals he is playing a purely personal game, which cannot possibly benefit the country. However sincere the Independent may be in his views, his very status discounts any influence he may have. The policy of the Coalition Government has been devised to afford the country fullest possible relief from its difficulties, and to establish a sound basis upon which* future prosperity can bo built. In taking the stand he does, the Independent can only bo classed as an obstructionist, and a bar to the way of hope the Coalition Government has indicated *
