CITY'S WATER SUPPLY
INSPECTION OF SYSTEM COMMITTEE TO DELIBERATE In consequence of the report made recently by the city engineer. Mr J. S. L. Deem, with regard to the state of the water system of city, an inspection was made vest .iy when the matter was looked into. A meeting of the Works Committee will be held this evening. The party consisting of the Mayor, Mr. N. G. Armstrong, Messrs. .1. 8. L. Deem (city engineer), J. D. Crowley (chairman of the Works Committee), G. 1. Jones, L. Pleasants, F. J. Hili, J. Siddelis, and E. O’Meara, left the City Council offices at 9 a.m. yes terday morning. Virginia Lake was the first stop, where an inspection of the recorder house of the venturiemeter showed that the city’s consumption of water during the past few weeks had been exccp i tionally large, especially when hosing was not restricted. The falling uff in ' the consumption following the restrictions was clearly indicated as was also a further reduction owing ro the recent rain. The party continued to the West-j mere reservoir, where, at the present time five million gallons of water arc ■ stored, representing about two days' supply for the city if all other water ; supply were cut off.
