OLD SOLDIER REWARDED

BRAVERY HALF CENTURY AGOThis is the story of a war honour which came 47 years afterwards. In 1884 Private Frank Yerbury, of tho Royal Marines, saved the life of Lieutenant White at the battle of El Teb, in Egypt. An Arab was about to kill him, when Yerbury caught the assailant by the hair and tTirew him down. Mr. Yerbury left the Army, and for 22 years served as income tax collector at Bath. Then he retired —his battle experiences a faint glimmer in his memory. Ho has just a letter from the War Office. It awarded him a medal for his gallantry of nearly half a century ago, ami a pension of £lO ft year. lie had practically forgotten the incident, but apparently the War Office, has a long memory.
