RAETIHI
FOOTBALL As the result of Hukaroa defaulting to Raetihi on Saturday Raetihi wins the Shield competition. Raetihi was a point ahead of Ohakune and the drawn game, Ohakune v. Rovers, gave Raetihi the shield by 2 points. This is the first time Raetihi has held the shield since 1922, and the players are delighted at their success. GENERAL Mr T. J. Quayle, postmaster, is at present on holiday in the south. The Methodist Maori concert party now travelling through the Dominion and giving high-class entertainments in the large ..litres, has offered to give half the profits of their concert at Raetihi to the community committee. The party expect to visit Raetihi about November 9, and have a very attractive programme. Last Monday there was a large attendance at the Theatre Royal to witness the opening after the installation of a new plant. New machinery costing about £lOOO had t>ecn installed by the enterprising proprietor, Mr H. Thompson, and everything worked in perfect order on Monday.
