GOLF SEASON CLOSES The closing day of tho Mangaweka Golf Club was held at tho links on Wednesday last, when a goo' . 'tendance of players were present, including a number from the Utiku Club, The weather was fine and the links were in excellent condition. Winners of the competitions were as follows: Men’s medal round: Messrs I. Parkes and I. Dickson. Driving competition: Mr J. Lawson. Putting competition: Mr I. Dickson. Dickson; the Agnew Rose Bowl (laides’ chain pionship), Mrs O’Callaghan; Miniature Cup (men’s 1930 championship), " '»• J. P. O’Callaghan; Miniature Rose Bowl (ladies’ 1930 chamnionshij ), Mrs O’Callaghan Mr We twood’s special prize was won by Miss J. Wright Afternoon tea was provided by the ladice of tho club, and was partaken after the game, thus bringing to an end a most enjoyable day. TENNIS CLUB Ideal weather prevailed for the opening day of the Mangaweka Tennis Club, which took flae<. on Saturday afternoon. There was a good attendance of players present, together with some members of the Croquet Club, who were specially invited to a Lend. Tho three courts were kept fully engaged, and dainty afternoon tea served by tho ladies added much 1 « the enjoyment of the day. GENERAL Messrs Smith Bros’, thoroughbred mare, Left, recently gave birth to twin foals-*a colt and a filly. The, contract for the bitumising of the station and bridge road are now advertised, and, as tho tenders close on the 22nd inst, the work should begin at an early date.
