LIFE-SAVING
CASTLECLIFF SECTION ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING ELECTION OF A satisfactory attendance of members of the Castlcciiff Surf Section of tho Royal Life-Saving Society was presided over by Mr Frank Turnbull on the occasion of the annual meeting-during the week-end, and this was accepted as giving promise of a good season. Tn elaborating on the annual report tho chairman stated that the surf sections had had a strenuous season, having a total of 48 rescues to their credit. Members had, he said, performed well in competitions, but did not succeed in gaining any champion-
ships. In congratulating membe*.. ob their work during last season 'lr Turnbull expressed regret that owing to tho nresent state of finances tho Wanganui Centro would be unable to send a team away to the next New Zealand championships, but if ci innstances permitted they hoped to bo able to send away a team for the following year. Tho election nf officers resulted as follows: —Chairman, Mr E. Gilberd; captain, Mr K. Congrievc; vice captain, Mr B. Tasker; secretary and treasurer and costume steward, Mr A. Gerrie; committee, Messrs A. Gerrio, J. S. Longton Deem, B. Tasker, J. O’Brien; R.L.B.S. delegates, D. Langslow, C. O’Brien, J. Palmer. D. O’Rrien, D. Lucas; instructors, C. O’Brien and D. Lucas.
