CHILD’S DEATH

STRUCK BY EXPRESS. [ Per Press Association. ] ROTORUA, Oct. 12. A fatal accident occurred at about 4 p.m. this afternoon when Colin Paupara Dinsdale, aged 2J years, son of Michael Dinsdale, of Te Koutu, was killed instantly by the express from Auckland. The child apparently was playing near the To Ko itu crossing and was seen to cross the line as the train approached. It then turned and attempted to re cross, but was struck by the engine and thrown clear of the line. The train was stopped and the child brought to Rotorua and conveyed to the King George Hospital, where Dr. Thompson pronounced life extinct. Ihe child’s head had been crushed and it had other severe injuries.
