Britain defeated France by eight and a-half matches to a half in the first women’s golf international in the United Kingdom. ROTORUA TOURNAMENT LADIES’ CHAMPIONSHIP YESTERDAY’S PLAY [ Per Press Association.] ROTORUA, Oct. 12. The third round of tho New Zealand Ladies’ Championship was played today in excellent weather. The course was a little heavy after flooding by heavy rain yesterday arceruoon, but it was practically dry at mid-day. Public interest was divided between the games of Miss O. Kay v. Mrs Deighton and Miss B. Gaisford v. Miss Pharazyn. Miss Kay won 7 up and 6, the game proving an easy victory all the way, despite her not being up to form. Miss Gaisford won 6 up and 5, taking the lead from the start and winning without effort. In the game between Mrs Guy Williams and Mrs Gower, tho former, though winning only 3 up and 2, was easily the steadier of tho two. Results:— Miss Upton won from Miss Chrystall, 4 and 3. Miss Loughnon won from Mrs Ferguson, 2 up. Mrs Cook won from Mrs N. Curtis, 5 and 3. Miss Kay won from Mrs Deighton, 7 and 6. Mrs Williams won from Mrs Gower, 3 and 2. Mrs Hosking won from Mrs Slee, 2 and 1. Miss B. Gaisford won from Miss Pharazyn, 6 and 5. Mrs Stout won from Miss M. Ward, 4 and 3.
