Miss Dorothy Smith has been permitted to enter the United States, and married Mr Summerton when the latter, who is a British subject, produced his first papers for American citizenship. Both assured the authorities that they intended to assume full American citizenship. After considerable argument, based on the ground that Summerton still owed allegiance to Britain, the authorities settled the couple’s difficulties by offering them cangratulations.
