WOMAN BEATS MEN

FIRST IN EXAMINATION. LONDON, Oct. 3. Miss A. M. Jennings gained first place in an examination for inspectors of income tax. She is the first woman to do this. She was 19 points ahead of the nearest man. There were 293 candidates, of whom 73 were women. Thirty vacancies had to be filed, and women will occupy 10 of them.
