GROUNDS FOR CRICKET
QUESTION OF CHARGES PLAYERS MUST PAY SUBS. Although it was not really a matter for the annual meeting, said the chairman, Air W. J. Treadwell, at last night’s annual meeting of the Wanganui Cricket Association, the association might have some difficulty in connection with the various playing grounds in the city at their disposal. The city council had found it necessary to raise the charges. Of course tho council had acted quite within its rights, and, when one considered tho position of the grounds in Wanganui, had acted generously. A revision might bo necessary as the charges for Cook’s Gardens would be heavier. The association could, if they thought, meet any obligations that might be imposed on them. The first duty was that individual players should pay their club subscriptions promptly, and the second, that clubs should pay their dues promptly to the association. If individual players, and clubs, would not each do their part, it'was quite imposible for the association to carry on. Mr Treadwell said that he hoped his remarks would be taken as they were intended, and he hoped that all individual members would do their part. The matter, said Air Treadwell in conclusion, was one for discussion at the first meeting of the newly-elected management committee.
