Air T. R. Dix, engineer to the Waitotara County Council, has been appointed honorary consulting engineer to tho Wanganui River Trust. Guests at Foster’s Hotel last night were:—Air. S. A. Legge, Air. R. H. Davey, Air. E. A. Herron; Air. C. C. Odlin, Mr. C. AlcLury, Air. M. M. Alason (Wellington). Mr A. C. Donovan, acting-station-riaster, and, Air W. Yamm, car and waggon inspector, both of Wanganui, have been served with notice of their retirement from the railway service. Under the first travelling scholarship granted the school of architecture at tho Auckland University College Air A. Salmond, of Dunedin, left by the Alaunganui on Friday for Sydney, en route to London. Air Salmond has attended the Auckland University College for the past four or five years. In England Mr Salmond will confer with the New Zealand University representative and the Royal Institute, of British Architects. He intends visiting London, the Continent and America to increase his knowledge of the manufacture of the latest building materials and to study modern constructional methods. The recognition of the school of architecture at the Auckland University College by the Royal Institute of British Architects will, no doubt, prove most helpful to him.
