WEATHER FORECAST

General Situation.—A cyclone has been centred east of the North Island. Pressure is also low over Southern Australia, while an anticyclone is situated over Eastern Australia. Forecast. —Winds: Strong northerly winds to gales north of Cape Egmont and Napier,-changing soon to southern; elsewhere moderate, but increasing eastern to south-eastern., Seas (N.Z. waters): Heavy north of Cape Egmont and East Cape, elsewhere rough. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong but decreasing southerly winds veering to north-westerly in the southern portion; seas rough in the northern portion and moderate in the southern. Weather: Unsettled, dull and misty with general rain. Heavy falls in the North Island with some flooding. An improvement, however, is probale to-day in mo st districts.
