VICTORY FOR VIEW HALLOO PRESIDENT’S TO GAY LAP GRAND TEA WINS PLUMPTON. [ Per Press Association. ] AUCKLAND, Sept. 28. The Avondale Jockey Club’s spring meeting concluded to-day in wet wea- j ther. The track was very heavy. The totalisator handled £15,672 10s—compared with £26,015 on the second day last year, the total for the meeting being £34.185, against £63,676 last year. Results were as follows: — GREY LYNN HURDLES (Of £150; two miles.) 4 Nassock 9.2, Turner 1 3—*Russett Moor, 9.1 j, Clements .. 2 5 Kamehameha, 9.3, Mcllroy .... 3 Also: 1 Claremore (fell), 2 Unoco (baulked). Six lengths; furlong. Time: 4.11 3-5. Claremore fell at the third fence when running second to Russet Moor. Nassock took the lead entering the back stretch and afterwards was not troubled to win easily. Unoco baulked at the fence at the sixfurlongs post. NURSERY HANDICAP (Of £150; ve furlongs.) 2 —Tankard, 8.0, Gray 1 s—Merry Way, 7.9. Broughton .... 2 1— Broken Rule, 8.1, Keesing .... 3 Also: 7 Closing Time, 3 Foreign Money, 10 Loombination, 8 Pink Page, 4 Splutter, 8 Muscadine, 6 Rippling Waters, 5 Glow Light (bracketed with Merry Way). Two and a-half lengths; half length. Time: 1.7 3-5. Broken Rule led from the start into the straight from Rippling Waters and Tankard. At the distance Tankard came through to win convincingly from Merry Way, which finished fast on the outside. MOUNT ALBERT HANDICAP (Of £135; six furlongs.) 2 Ganpat, 8.12. Bagby 1 1— Lord Vai, 9.5, Morris 2 9 —Full Measure. 9.4, McTavish .. 3 Also: 3 Marechai, 3 Princess Bede, 8 Holly Holm, 10 Columba. 9 Great Emblem, 12 Brazanna, 13 Bronze Tray, 15 Don’t Lap, 17 Kingsway, 7 Lady Court, 11 Lady Musk, 1C Lady Noreen, 5 Lucidus, 14 Marchette. Neck; neck. Time: 1.21 3-5. Lord Vai and Ganpat found their feet quickly and were well placed at the bend, Ganpat going on to beat Lord Vai narrowly, with Full Measure the same distance away, third. Holly Holm and Bronze Tray finished strongly but Princess Bede and Marechai tired. PLUMPTON HANDICAP (Of £3OO ; miles.) 5 GRAND TEA, 7.2, L. Pine .... 1 6 TRUE BLOOD, 7.7, Voitre .... 2 B—FLYING PRINCE, 7.0, McDowell 3 Also: 1 Maori Boy, 3 Little Doubt, 2 Malahat. 7 Standfast, 4 Te Hoia, 9 Wild Country. Three lengths; four lengths. Time: 2.20 1-5. Flying Prince and Standfast made most of the running and were still the leaders at the turn to the straight. Grand Tea came through strongly to win easily. AVONDALE GUINEAS (Of £500; one mile.) 3 VIEW HALLOO, 8.10, Morris .. 1 S—KING COLOSSUS, 8.10, Bagby 2 fI—GOLDEN WINGS, 8.10, Voitre . 3 Also: 4 Baroscope, 1 Bronze Eagle, 2 Croupier. 7 Aspian and meen (bracketed). Length, length. Time: 1.49 3-5. Golden Wings was still in front entering the straight, where Aspian and Bronze Eagle had displaced Bara scope, Croupier being well ba«fk. Bronze Eagle, the odds-on favourite, failed badly in the going, View Halloo and King Colossus finishing fast to pay the dividends. PRESIDENT’S HANDICAP (Of £275; six furlongs.) 4 —GAY LAP, 7.1. Cammick .... 1 2 REFRESHER, 8.10, Bagby .... 2 1 __ORAPAI, 9.0, Gray 3 Also: 5 Richfield, 6 Gold Money, 8 Vandyke, 7 Honiton, 3 King Ford. Two lengths each way. Time: 1.21 2-5. After two furlongs Orapai took the lead, with Gay Lap second. Orapai and Gay Lap held their positions turning into the straight, Gay Lap finishing well under pressure to win from Refresher, which came up fast. NEW LYNN HANDICAP (Of £135; one mile.) 2 Taunia, 8.12, Gray 1 3 Speedmint, 8.9, Goldfinch .... 2 I—Protomint, 7.13, Stockley .... 3 Also: 5 Landmark, 4 Catch ’Em, 6 Tambourine, 7 Tarcha, 8 Kairuri, 9 Running Over. One and a-half lengths; neck. Time: 1.51 2-5. Protomint was unlucky to lose ground at the start and was checked after running up near the turn. He was in front inside the distance but weakened, giving Taurua and - Speedmint their opportunity. NIHOTAPU HANDICAP (Of £150; seven furlongs.) 1— PRINCE VAL, 9.1, Goldfinch .. 1 3—LUCY ROSE, 7.9, Connor .... 2 B—EAGLET, 9.3, Bagby 3 Also: 7 Habit, 2 Pewa, 8 Hunting Day, 6 Puriri Park, 12 Volimond, 10 Sir Mond, 5 Cruachan, 4 Tetrachate, 1 Bennie. Head; two and a-half lengths. Pime: 1.35 4-5. Cruchan and Hunting Day made the running into the straight from Puriri Park and Eaglet, Prince Vai and Lucy Rose, and in a good finish Prince Vai won narrowly from Lucy Rose.
