ENGAGEMENTS DECLINED. [ Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, Sept. 25. Avondale scratchings are as follows: Maiden Race. —Exaggertion, Glenrata, Royal Gallant, Light Step. Champion Hack Plate. —Beverage. Swanson Handicap. —Gay Court. Kingsland Hurdles.—Simeon. Avondale Stakes. —March Alone, La Moderne, Prince Pombal, Air Lassie, Divola. All engagements. —Union. ON TAKANINI TRACKS THE FINAL GALLOPS. AUCKLAND, Sept. 25. For the final work of the Takanini horses engaged at Avondale the track was fairly heavy. The work was done on the outside fringe of the middle grass, consequently the distances were slightly more than those named. Bronze Eagle was first out, and, after striding round to the six furlongs peg, he ran home comfortably in Imin. 24 3-ssec. He is looking bright and well.

Heremia and Lady Vane were on terms, with the former going slightly the better, at the end of six furlongs in Imin. 23 4-ssec. Heremia should make a showing in the Maiden Plate to-morrow.

Bell Topper was hanging on well at the end of half a mile in 55sec. He has quitened down well, and will run forward in the Avondale Stakes if he leaves the barrier at all smartly.

Tea Chat was sprinted a furlong at the finish of his work. Refresher was going better than Clopton at the end of five furlongs in Imin. 7 2-ssec. Refresher has done his work consistently well, and he will strip fit to-morrow.

Ganpat, Eaglet, and Dominican were in that order at the end of six furlongs. They ran the first three furlongs in 40 2-ssec., and the full distance, ridden out, in Imin. 21sec. Ganpat went very freely.

Catch ’Em was clear of Lord Willonyx and Running Over at the end of half a mile in 54 4-ssec. Catch ’Em has done his recent work well.

Chief Jewel sprinted from the two furlongs disc in 27 l-556c., without being asked for his best. Brazanna outpaced Amber Link in the early stages of a six furlong gallop, but the latter outstayed her, to finish in front in Imin. 23sec. after the first three furlongs had taken 41 1-5 sc*. Amber Link will run in the Maiden Plate to-morrow if track conditions are good. Tea Trader and Tui Mint were both going nicely at the en dof five furlongs in Imin. 16 3-ssec., after running the first three in 41 2-ssec. The two-year-old went much straighter than in. his last gallop, and he has only to do his work right to make a bold shownig in the Avondale Stakes.

Speedmint, who came in behind the previous gallopers, recorded Imin. 7sec. for five furlongs, the best sprint of the morning. R. Horne will ride her in the Champion Hack Plate. Vandyke was stopping a little after going fast in the early stages of five furlongs, run in Imin. 8 3-ssec. Royal Artist was nearly a length in front of High Comedy at the end of five furlongs in Imin. 9see. These horses were last to work, when. the track was cut up, and neither relished the conditions. However, they are in splendid order, and both will be handy if track conditions are good to-morrow.
