“BETTER WIFE” COMING * RUTH CHATTERTON STARRED Stanley Smith, leading man in “Sweetie” and “Honey,” is now to be seen at the Duchess Theatre in the Paramount filmisation of the musical production, “Queen High,” which was brought to the screen by Paramount and Schwab and Mandel, the stage producers. Featured in the picture with Smith are Ginger Rogers, Charles Ruggles and Frank Morgan. The production was directed by Fred Newmeyer. A nobody out of nowhere—yet the wife of the city’s most brilliant lawyer! A magnet for every man in town —yet scorned by the one man she loves! Smart, rich, gay —yet afraid to call her husband her own! Tender, womanly—yet forced to fight for love. The incomparable dramatic actress of the talking screen—in the love drama of the year! Such are Ruth Chatterton and Clive Brook in “The Better Wife,” a Paramount picture, at the Iluchess Theatre on Wednesday and Thursday next. Radio is to make a big musical film, called “Girl Crazy,” starring Wheeler and Woolsey. The old favourite, Carlyle Blackwell, has inherited an estate From his father, recently deceased. Carlyle, idol of London, proves to be Carl G. Blackwell, of Syracuse, New York. He is married to Leah Barnato, daughter of the Diamond King, the multi-millionaire, Barney Barnato.
