SENTENCES OF DEATH
CRIME IN INDIAN TRAIN BRITISH OFFICER MURDERED DELHI, Sept. 22. Singh and Deo Narayan were sentenced to death, and Dala fat to transportation for life, for tho murder of Lieutenant Hext and the attempted murder of Lieutenant Sheehan in the Punjab mail train on the night of July 22. The brutal murder of a British officer was committed ou the Punjab mail train on the night of July 22. Two officers, Lieutenant G. R. Hext and Lieutenant Sheehan, who were travelling to Poona, were attacked and stabbed.
Lieutenant Hext was seriously wounded while he was asleep and died later from his injuries. Lieutenant Sheehan was severely wounded.
Lieutenant Sheehan stated that he wa.' awakened by rhe barking of a d)g which was in the same compartment. He saw two men, armed with dagge-s, who killed the dog, and then attacked Lieutenant Hext and himsalf. Then they jumped from the train and disappeared in the jungle.
