WEDDING BELLS AT 75

SHINGLED GRANNIE AS BRIDE. Mr Joseph Charleston, aged 75, of Helliwell, Lancashire, took 75-years-old Mrs Caroline Jane Gandy, a shingled grandmother, for his bride. Mr Charleston said he had taken "Carrie” for his wife because he felt she would look after him. "My last wife, who died some months ago, was her sister, and she made me a good wife," he said. "I have married Carrie because I am getting lonesome, and I know she is fond of me.” It wa-s hoped to accommodate nearly 100 children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren of thf couple at the wedding breakfast.
