General Situation. —A rather intense depression is covering the Dominion. its centre having been located yesterday off the West Coast of Otago. Pressure is high, over the greater part of Australia. Forecast.—Winds: moderate to strong northerly, reaching gale force in exposed positions. Backing to southerly soon in the far south and southerlies shortly becoming general. .Seas (N.Z. waters): Rough on the West Coast and off shore south of East Cape, elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tasman sea: Strong west to south-west ivinds, with rough seas. Weather: Changeable and squally, with intermittent rain in most districts, and hail on parts of the coast. Temperatures becoming cold.
