Rogers acted as M.’sC., and part of the enjoyment of the dance is certainly due to them. Mr D. S. Craig, as secretary, deserves special praise for his energetic manner in arrangements for the better success of the ball. PERSONAL Miss B. Lourie, Fern Flats, Marton, was the guest of Mrs W. R. S. Brewer, “Waihau,” for the week-end. Miss J. Smolley, who has been visiting her sister, Mrs F. McWilliams, for the past few weeks, returns to Auckland to-day. Miss N. Bayfield, Wellington, is staying with Miss M. Elmslie, who is spending the spring vacation in Waverley. Miss J. Blair, Hawera, was the guest of Mrs G. H. Alexander for the weekend. Mr McLeod, W’anganui. is at present staying with Airs E. S. Symes. GOLF Waverley and Hawera played a a match on the local links last Saturday, when Waverley won by 7 to 3 games, two being halved. The following are the resuts: Waverley players being mentioned last: — Whitehead and Pease beat Parsons and Bradmore. Hay MacKenzie and Harrison lost to Muir and S. Aiken. Gibson and Jones lost to Gray and F. Johnston. Gibbs and Powdrell lest to Dallison and Snushall. Giblin and Powdrell lost to Dallison and Snushall; Vinnicombe and MeAleriu halved with Spratt and Gray; Vcale and Harrison lost to Joe Pepper and Cathie; Young and Clarke lost to J. Johnston and J. H. Pepper; Muir and Meyrick halved with Palmer and Sampson; White and Walker won from Rogers and Cawdell; Chisholm and , Abbott lost to Blackistock and Higgin botham; Buckeridge and Williams lost to Dr. Graves and Aiken; Walker and ( Stratton won from N. Spratt and Howie.
