"THE GOOD OLD HORSE"
VALUE IN AGRICULTURE RETURN TO USE PREDICTED A speedy return to the horse in preference to mechanical methods of agricultural production in New Zealand was predicted by Mr E. F. Healy (Gov. erniucnt, Wairau) while speaking in the Financial Debate in the House of Representatives last week. Mr Healey mentioned that the largest shipment of New Zealand produce ever exported direct to Manchester had been unloaded purely with the aid of horses. This, he said, showed that in hntflairt there was a return to the good old horse, and he believed that if New Zealand farmers had followed this example there would have been leas stagnation. Mr K. S. Williams (Reform, Bar of Plenty): Do you want to buy a horsef Mr Healy: No, but I think it will not be long before the horse will be wanted to a much greater extent than at present. Mr .1. McCombs (T.abour. Lytteltonj? Why not go the whole way and gel bullocks? Mr Healy; T am nnt antiquated, but our farmers will need to go back t> horses.
