MOTOR-CARS ON THE DOLE! A Bulls resident, at present on a visit to England, writes to a friend here as follows: —“I have been all round the markets and meat stores in London; also the butter and wool stores; and it is an eye-opener to see the amount of stuff handled; and the way they all talk, they are not expecting any rise in prices; and yet one has only to travel round England to see the number of cars on the road, and the people travelling for pleasure. It is great! And at week-ends it is not safe to be on the roads. Everybody seems to have money to spend, and there does not appear to be any poverty, as they all get the dole, but it is mounting up the debt of the country, and how long it can go. on, heaven only knows! All business people would like to see the Labour Government out of power and the Unionists in. as they think trade would pick up then.”
