WAR DEBTS BURDEN
AN AMERICAN REPORT BANKERS’ INVESTIGATION WAIT STREET SATISFIED [By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright] WASHINGTON, Aug. 19. Administration circles are silent today on the Wiggins Bankers’ Committee report recommending a revision of the whole of the var debts and reparations at White House. It was said that President Hoover, after reading the press reports, was uncommunicative. One high official of the State Depart ment described the report as of “great importance.” He made no further comment. The Wiggins recommendations have created considerable satisfaction in Wall Street banking circles, being in line with opinions recently expressed informally by prominent bankers. REVISION OF REPARATIONS. Received August 20, 8.15 p.m. BERLIN. Aug. 20. Attention is being attracted by a paragraph in the bankers ’ report from Basle saying: “We think it is essential that international payments by Germany should not imperil the mainten ante'of her financial stability.” This is interpreted here in the nature of a recommendation for a general re vision of reparations.
