REV. W. GREENSLADE I Pet Prt!»- A - ociation. I CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 19. The death is reported of the Rev. William Greenslade, aged 56. a prominent Methodist minister. He had been ill for 15 months. MRS PROUSE RELICT OF WELL-KNOWN SINGER [ Ter Press Association. I WELLINGTON, Aug. 19. The death has occurred of Mrs Prouse, relict of the late John Prouse, the well-known singer. She herself has been intimately associated with musical affairs in Wellington for many years. Mrs Prouse sponsored the tour of f j orchestra of the Christchurch Exhibition, and ar nged for the appearance at three centres of the Royal Marinos’ Band from the Ophir at the time of the visit of the Duke n d Duchess of York to New Zealand. Until recently she was e osely connected with many musical activities at Wellington, beir ■ particularly interested in the development of young talent. She was instrumental in having Georg j El’wood, of Christchurch, sent to study the ’cello at the Liege Conservatoire. CAPTAIN L. D. MITCHELL. [ Per Pre?! l Association. ] WELLINGTON, Aug. 19. The death of Captain L. D. Mitchell in California recently is reported in a letter received by M. Zlatko Balakovic, a violinist now visiting Wellington. Captain Mitchell was the well-known sportsman who came to New Zealand in company with Zane Grey on two occa sions within the last few years. Captain Mitehell was a most skilful deepsea fisherman and distinguished himself bv the number and size of his catches off Cape Brett. He made many friends in New Zealand. He xeas at Papeete (Tahiti), when the yacht Northern Light was there, and M. Balokovic was out with him in the launch when he landed his last swordfish there.
