WANGANUI CLUB BALGOWNIE 'UP SECOND ROUND ON SATURDAY The second round of play for the Balgownie Cup will be played by the Wanganui Golf Club at the Belmont links on Saturday, the return interclub match with Scafield having been postponed to August 29. The leading scores in the first round are R. G. Handley, 2 up, V. B. Haworth 1 up, C. F. Treadwell and H. J. Grieve all square, D. R. Robertshaw, J. R. Franklin 1 doown, and B. M. Silk 1 down. CASTLECLIFF LADIES’ CLUB SUCCESSFUL “OPEN” DAY RESULTS OF COMPETITIONS. Success attended the Castlecliff Ladies’ Golf Ciub’s “open” day, some enjoyable rounds being played, while the contests in most instances were most interesting. The men’s competition was won by T. Ruane, while the putting prizes went to C. Maitland and Mrs Totty. Following are the results of the morning and afternoon rounds: Morning Medal Round (A Grade). Miss Currie, 91 —10 —81. Mrs Gra'ce, 92—9—83. (B Grad.). Miss Newham, 104—24—80. Mrs Carver, 102—22—80. Mrs Robertshaw, 112—32—80. Miss Newham won with the best second half. (C Grade) Miss B. Wilson. Afternoon Round. (A Grade) Miss E. Wilson, 1 4own. Miss Currie, 2 down. Mrs Grace, 3 down. (B Grade) Mrs Bristol, 2 up. Mrs C. C. Smith, 1 down. C Grade Miss B Wilson.
