ON THE MINIATURE RANGES REGIMENTAL RIFLE CLUB MATCH WITH WANGANUI GUARDS Within the next few days the Regimental Rifle Club will lire a return match with members of the Wanganui Guards (Old Volunteers). The last occasion teams from these units met the “old hands” were only beaten by a few points. It has been decided to fire the West Coast side on Monday, August 25, at 7.30 p.m. on the Drill Hall range. The following will represent the West Coast Regiment:—W. Hutchens (team capt.), M. Luxford, S. Luxford, K. Grant, J. Beaven, G. Beaven, H. O. Burford, D. A. C. Lilburne, J. R. Cade, D. T. Maxwell. Reserves: G. Doyle, C. L. Lovegrove, Nicholson, Atkinson, C. B. Lewis. Selectors: Major, Lovegrove. Members of the teams who cannot attend, may shoot their targets during the day by making arrangements. Conditions of Shoot: Ten targets of 7 shots with optional sighter, best eight to count.

It is expected that the annual match with the Sixth Battalion Hampshire Regiment (Portsmouth), will take place on October 21. The secretary expects to hear next month from England confirming the date. The club have several prospective matches on hand, and an endeavour will be made to get them all off during September and October in order that a good team may be selected to meet the English team. The return matches to be fired are as follows:—V. Queen Alexandra Mounted Rifles, v officers, v. R.S.A. (Dunedin), v. Hampshire Regiment. The Regimental Club’s activities on the winter programme will terminate with the Hampshire match. MATCH TO UPOKONGARO. CLOSE SHOOTING BY TEAM. Nine points only separated the Upokongaro and Municipal miniature rifle teams when they competed on the Municipal range last night. Following were the scores:— Upokongaro. V.
