LEGALLY DEAD
WOMAN’S QUANDARY. LONDON, Aug. 5. A woman at Dortmund is vainly protesting to the Law Courts that she is not dead, says the Berlin correspondent of The Times. Officially, she has been proclaimed non-existent. The woman, a native of Dortmund, lived for many years apart from her husband, who in 1923 obtained a legal declaration of her death, and re-mar-ried. His first wife did not hear about it until recently, and applied to the Dortmund County Court to revoke its declaration, but without success. It was pointed out that she had failed to combat the declaration wtihin the prescribed period, so her death was good in law, and must stand.
