FOOTBALL The matches in the senior championship of South Taranaki will be continued to-day, when Patea will travel to Kaponga. The team will comprise the following: Spooner. Petersen, McDowell, Zimmerman; Crawford, Baldwin; Bourke; Richards, Wills, Baldwin Bloor, Crawford, Walker, Couch, Hunt. Protest Upheld As a result of Okaiawa playing a senior in the junior match against Patea, a protest was made to the Tara naki Union. At a meeting of this union recently the protest was upheld, the Okaiawa player having played in two senior matches last season. He had been reinstated at, the request of his club for this season as a junior, but had subsequently played in a senior match. Patea was thus awarded the game against Okaiawa, and subsequently became the winners in the Southern Division. They will play Kaponga next Wednesday for the Gibson Banner, Kaponga being the winners of the Western Division. CONCERT AND DANCE In order to raise further funds to clear off the debt on the Whenuakura Hall, a concert programme was given there last Thursday night, before a good attendance of Whenuakura and Patea residents. The programme in■luded a short comedy enacted by four members of the Patea Women’s Institute. This play was the same as that given at the monthly meeting of the Institute last Friday. Once again it provoked general amusement and appreciation, and the actresses, Mesdames Pettigrew, Torrens, Pearce and Smiles, are to be congratulated on their splendid performance of “Snowed Up With the Duchess.” Dancing and supper '■ompletcd a very enjoyable evening, the funds being increased by the appreciable sum of £5 ss. About, twenty couples took the floor and the dance music was. capably supplied by Mr A. Gilmore. Supper arrangements were in the hands of Mesdames P. Bourke, Donald, Pearce and Miss Sheild. Mr L. Torrens acted as M.C.
