HAMILTON TRAFFIC BRIDGE
SECOND STRUCTURE NEEDED SCHEME UNDER CONSIDERATION HAMILTON, Aug. 10. The need of a second traflic bridge at Hamilton was stressed by the Mayor (Dr. F. D. Pinfold) in an address to the Hamilton Rotary -Club to-day. The present bridge, he said, while quite safe, might have to be closed for repairs. With the bridge closed fo. a month the effect on business in Victoria Street would be very serious. “Wo must have another bridge,’’ he added. A proposal was being considered to erect a structure across the river at No. 1 bridge, at the northern end of the town. The cost would be £24,000, of which the Government would find £BOOO, ami Hamilton Borough and the Waikato and Waipa Counties would be required to find the balance. It was likely the ratepayers would have an opportunity of voting on the matter. Dr. Pinfold said the majority of tho Borough Council realise dthe need of building a new bridge in the near future.
