ORDER OF ST. JOHN
CENTENARY CELEBRATIONS, {DOMINION MEMBERS’ SUCCESS. Advice that New Zealand gained third place in the international St. John Ambulance competitions held in London on June 26 in connection with the celebrations of the centenary of the revival | of the Order of St. John in England is contained in a letter received in Auckland from Mrs C. M. Hill, lady superintendent of the Whangarci division, vvhc is one of the Dominion representatives. Tho writer says the New Zealand team was led by Miss E. Ernest, senior member of the Epsom nursing division. Each member of the team was presented with a silver medal by the Countess of Athlone. A review was held in Hyde Park on the following day, when '•everal thousands of delegates from all parts of the world were on parade, the New Zealand teams being led by Mrs Hill. An official church service was held in Westminster Abbey and an investiture ceremony took place at Buckingham Palace. The delegates also attended a reception given by the Duke of Connaught in St. James’ Palace, a reception by Lord Scarborough and Lady Scarborough at St. John 's G.te, Clcrkenwell, London, the headquarters of «ne order in England, a dinner at tho Oxfordshire home of Sir John Hewett, an official of St. John’s Gate, and a tea in the King’s Robing Room.
