TINNEY PLEADS GUILD
HIT AND RUN MOTORIST SENTENCE ON WEDNESDAY. After pleading not guilty in the Magistrate’s Court at Patea, Norman Tinney pleaded guilty to alternative charges of causing death by recklessly driving and negligently driving a motor-car and of causing death by negligently driving at the Supreme Court at Wanganui, yesterday On a major charge of manslaughter Tinney entered a plea of not guilty. Air N. R. Bain, Crown Prosecutor, said that the plea of guilty to the two charges was tantamount tn a plea of guilty on the first, therefore the Crown offered no evidence. Mr L. Cohen appeared for the accused. Asked for an indication as to when the Judge might be further dealing with the ease, His Honour said accused would be remanded for sentence at 10 a.m. on Wednesday. The charges were (1) That on May 16. 1931, at Patea, he did unlawfully kill Stuart Carlyle Humphrey by the reckless and negligent driving of a motor-car and lid thereby commit the crime of manslaughter; (2) did recklessly drive a ear and thereby causing th death of Stuart Carlyle Humphrey, and (3) negligently drive the car hereby causing the death of Stuart Carlyle Humphrey.
